Google has announced BARD, a conversational chatbot driven by artificial intelligenc(AI) that will compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Made by Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, Google's parent company, the announcement came as no surprise. Breaking records, ChatGPT received 1million subscribers within 5 days from date of its launch. Its massive global adoption has made ChatGPT the face of AI.

Large Language Models Technology

The utilization of the most recent technological Large Language Model (LLM) tools has elevated the chatting experience to new heights. LLM is a deep learning system that can detect, summarize, translate, forecast, and synthesize text and other material based on information obtained from enormous datasets.

The same technology powers BARD. Google's LLM model, Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA), is based on a neural network architecture developed by Google Research and made open-sourced  in 2017. The architecture generates a model that can be trained to read a large number of words, pay attention to how those words connect to one another, and then forecast which words it believes will appear next.

“Soon, you’ll see AI-powered features in Search that distill complex information and multiple perspectives into easy-to-digest formats, so you can quickly understand the big picture and learn more from the web: whether that’s seeking out additional perspectives, like blogs from people who play both piano and guitar, or going deeper on a related topic, like steps to get started as a beginner,” remarked CEO Sundar Pichai.
