How Nigeria's TradeDepot is helping Afrika's neighborhood retailers
To understand better how TradeDepot's acquisition of Green Lion will empower and help Afrika's neighborhood retailers, we caught up with Onyekachi Izukanne, CEO and co-founder of TradeDepot.
As much as Afrikan countries are unique, when it comes to some things, Afrika is truly a country. This is especially true when you look at the various neighborhood retailers across different Afrikan countries.
For example, like many Afrikan countries, Nigeria's retail sector supply chain is informal and fragmented. This is the initial problem that TradeDepot, one of Afrika’s leading B2B e-commerce and embedded finance platforms, picked up and started working on.
The first step thus far has been to start by digitizing the operations of neighborhood retailers in the different markets that TradeDepot operates in. Thereafter, TradeDepot leverages some of the data it collects from the neighborhood retailers to offer them financing and help them with buying stock for their shops.
