Africa's top machine learning and artificial intelligence event announced Dakar, Senegal as the host nation for this year's Indaba on September 1-7, according to a joint statement by its co-general chairs. The Indaba, now in its sixth year, began in 2017 at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Initially financing 50 students to attend, 2023 Indaba financed hundreds of researchers from 36 nations throughout the continent.
“Senegal is the epicenter of a strong AI ecosystem, with one of the most active IndabaX communities on the continent. This AI ecosystem is strengthened by strong partnerships with local communities and partner institutions, such as GalsenAI, AI Hub Senegal as well as the Université Amadou Mahtar Mbow, Université Numérique Cheikh Hamidou Kane and AIMS Senegal ” 2024 General Chairs: Emily Muller, Daouda Tandiang Djiba and Elizabeth Benson.
