Geekulcha Hackathon 2025 (GKHack25) opened its doors this morning, welcoming coders, designers and entrepreneurs eager to transform unfinished projects into launch-ready tech.

For the next three days, teams across Centurion, Kisumu and online will code, test and pitch under the rallying theme “Finish What You Started: Harnessing Intelligence for Sustainable Development.” The hybrid hackathon has drawn 115 teams ,210 on-site and 650 virtual participants , all racing to reach the finish line with working solutions.

Powered by Telkom, in partnership with the Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI) and Lolwe AI & Robotics Studio, GKHack25 also serves as the finale of the Telkom10XHackathon series. A R130,000 prize pool and potential incubation await the most promising products.

Unlike most hackathons, GKHack25 demands progress. Teams must arrive with 30% of a working solution and hit at least Technology Readiness Level 6 by Sunday. Required submissions include a Lean Business Canvas, SSDLC checklist, a 60-second demo video and a concise pitch deck to showcase readiness.

Saturday brings expert sessions on AI, cybersecurity and business development, followed by the signature Hackathon War Rooms for mentor feedback. On Sunday morning teams submit final builds; the top 10 pitch live before winners are announced in the afternoon.
