Kenya announced that it would share its census gadgets used by enumerators with several other African countries. Already, Botswana, South Sudan, Mauritius, Sierra Leone, and Namibia have received 45,000 devices to help them carry out their census.
Between April and October 2020, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics reports that Kenyans spent KShs 16.9 billion on devices such as computers, smartphones, and networking devices. Growth in sales of nearly 85%.
A lot still needs to be done to get more people online in Kenya. The rural areas are the ones that have a very limited connection, hence a need to focus on them.
