On 10 June 2017 Marvel released the first trailer for the Black Panther movie, and from that trailer, it was clear that the movie was heavily influenced by Afrikan culture, clothing, and architecture.

Black Panther is already proving to be one of the most anticipated superhero movies of all time, especially in Afrika. Marvel reports that it has already broken the record for advanced ticket sales by a superhero movie despite not being in theaters for two more weeks.

So much is the anticipation that fans have been talking about the types of outfits, specifically Afrikan cultural attire, they will be wearing to go wattch the Science Fiction movie. The movie is set to be in theatres on 16 February 2016, but as confirmed by both Marvel Studios and Kendrick Lamar, "Black Panther - The Album" will be available for purchase and streaming on 9 February 2018.

The hype around Black Panther highlights how important it is to have Afrika inspired Science Fiction movies and why the continent needs more science fiction. Already, so far, apart from the movie, Marvel roped in the Nigerian-American author, Nnedi Okarafor to write a 3-part comic on Black Panther, the first of the series was published in December 2017.
